CONNECT 001 - Bethany Wrede Peterson

Bethany Wrede Peterson - Atelier Wrede

Podcast Coach for Personal Brands, and host of the ARRIVED. and ARRIVED Daily... podcasts.

I’m so excited to have my wonderful friend Bethany Wrede Peterson to kick off the CONNECT series. She’s supported me on my journey in publicly claiming my voice by inviting me to appear on an episode of ARRIVED. for my first podcast interview. When I decided to launch this series I knew Bethany was the first person I wanted to chat with. She has such a refreshing and nuanced approach to branding and podcasting. I hope you enjoy.

What brought you to this work?

I used to be an interior designer for bachelors. I launched ARRIVED. In 2019 initially to help my then-niche – millennial single men – find their voice at home and in their relationships. But every episode felt like a research project: I wasn't a guy, nor was I even single!

In 2020, shortly after the first pandemic lockdown temporarily shuttered the design industry, I started receiving requests from peers to help them launch their own podcasts. It was then that I realized a narrative more closely aligned with my own story needed to feature in my podcast and coaching work.

The subject matter of ARRIVED. subsequently transitioned to finding your Voice in your work, as more female solopreneurs were listening to the show than single men ever had.

What do you feel is important about coaching work you do?

Whoever listens to the show, I love getting behind the mic – even if my message in a certain episode only resonates with one person. It sounds clichéd, but you never know who is listening – and whether your message is just the one they need to take that next step to improve their own life or business in some way.

Your voice has the power to make a far-reaching impact! That's why I love podcasting so much and why I'm so passionate about coaching others in this craft. Once you realize the joy and power of podcasting, it's hard to look at any other way to market your business as effectively or as authentically.

What do you feel is the best time for someone to work with a coach?

I think someone should consult a coach when they're pressed for time and need to learn a new skillset and get results quickly. I cobbled together my first podcast through Google, YouTube, and other how-to videos and blogs. It was a terrible use of my time – my most precious currency! Trust me, your time is worth more than trying to white knuckle it alone!

I also think someone should work with a coach when they're stuck; when they can't figure out the next step to take, on their own, and would benefit from someone who's already achieved the result they'd like to guide them to their intended result.

What do you hope clients gain from working with you?

Many of my clients work with me because they need a springboard to find their Voice and hone their message. Anyone can start a podcast – the mechanics and tech are quite simple, really. But it can be downright intimidating for a lot of people to suddenly step up to the mic and let their voice be heard.

My clients come away from our collaborative work together knowing their Why; their brand pillars (which structure the content framework for their podcast and other brand messaging); and they've developed the confidence to stand up and speak their truth – whether it's in a podcast, on an Instagram LIVE, or even in a blog. That's the real magic of podcast coaching – once you find your Voice, you can spread your message across so many different channels.

What's something that inspires you that you'd like to share?

Any time one of my students or private clients launches their own show – it's a feeling like no other! Just knowing that I've helped to empower someone else to use their voice as a catalyst to help others, and in turn, that audience can feel more empowered! It's a blissful full-circle feeling of accomplishment, knowing I've helped plant that seed.

Is there anything else you'd like to say about you or your practice?
